A man who murdered his wife with a hatchet in 1999 in Blenheim has again been denied parole.
John Frederick Ericson is serving a life sentence in prison for killing his wife, Sandra Ericson, while she was sleeping in Blenheim.
The Parole Board said it was mindful that while the risk of further offending might have a low possibility, it was potentially of a grave nature.
The board also wanted Ericson's psychological treatment completed before he was released.
The 54-year-old will be seen again by the Parole Board in May.
