Autistic teen's abuser denied parole

A taxi driver, who preyed on an autistic teenage girl with the mental age of a 10 year old, has been denied parole.

Dennis James Dredge was jailed for two years and one month in September last year for indecently assaulting the 17-year-old.

The offending took place when the 66-year-old would drive the girl to her special needs school.

The Parole Board said Dredge continued to show little insight into what he has done and needs further psychological treatment.

It has ruled he poses an undue risk to the community, and will not go before the board again until July next year.
