Five Hastings gang members charged with attacking guests at a 21st birthday party with weapons including a machete and pieces of wood have been committed for trial.
The men aged between 17 and 35 face charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
A depositions hearing in the Napier District Court heard evidence from five people who attended the party at a house at Bridge Pa southwest of Hastings in June.
All told the court they suffered cuts and other injuries which required medical treatment.
At the end of the evidence lawyers representing three of the accused submitted that their clients did not have a case to answer.
Judge Bridget MacIntosh rejected their submissions and decided there was sufficient evidence for all five accused to stand trial.
