A police officer was injured after he was knocked over by a stolen car at a McDonald's drive-thru.
The sergeant received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
He was called to reports of a stolen car at the drive-thru on Great South Road, in Papakura about 6.25pm yesterday.
After speaking to the male driver, the sergeant was run over when the car accelerated before going through a red light.
The driver of the matte-black Nissan Terrano spoke to the sergeant, before the car accelerated, hit the sergeant, then went through a red light.
Police were concerned about the safety of their staff, as well as a woman and child who were passengers in the car.
The car registration was BMM872. Police asked anyone who saw the car to phone 111.
