A 37-year-old man from Masterton has died after a car went off a bridge near the Wairarapa town.
The car landed in the Ruamahanga River, in Te Ore Ore.
The deceased was the only person in the car, police said.
The road remained closed from Masterton Castlepoint Road to Mangapurupuru Road as emergency services worked to get the car out of the river.
