Police say a Feilding house is still under 24-hour guard following the suspicious disappearance of a Whanganui woman.

Marice McGregor, 45, was last seen collecting pine cones in the Lismore Forest area about 20km north of Whanganui on 19 April.

Her red Suzuki was later found abandoned there, with her walking shoes and wallet inside.

Detective Inspector Chris Bensemann says the house is one part of the investigation as it is where a car linked to Ms McGregor's disappearance was found.

Mr Bensemann says police are also using a new tool known as geographical profiling which takes into account Ms McGregor's general routine and help prioritise areas to search.

Police are still looking for Ms McGregor's cellphone which was briefly switched on in the Feilding area on 20 April.
