A woman has suffered serious injuries in a bungy jumping accident near Hanmer Springs in Canterbury.
The incident happened about midday on Friday and the woman, believed to be from
Sydney, has been taken to hospital. The nature of her injuries is not yet known.
The Thrillseekers Adventures bungy operation is now closed as police and the Department of Labour investigate the accident.
Thrillseekers Adventures general manager of sales and marketing Blair Hartland says the company took over the bungy business in October last year.
The jump is just over 30 metres from the Ferry Bridge in the Waiau Gorge.
