Actor's sex charges trial aborted

12:11 pm on 9 December 2016

The trial of an actor on sex charges has been aborted.

The man, who has name suppression, was facing 12 sexual assault charges before a jury at the Auckland District Court.

The reasons for the trial stopping after just two days are suppressed.

Earlier this week, the court heard how the award-winning actor kissed and touched and performed sex acts on his students during private acting classes.

There were four complainants in the case, all women in their early 20s at the time of the classes.

The defence said the women gave informed consent and were seeking revenge after a romantic relationship between the accused and one of the women broke down.

A new trial date will be set for next year.
