About 200 people have attended the funeral for a taxi driver slain in Christchurch last weekend.

Abdul Rahman Ikhtiari, 39, was fatally stabbed while working night-shift early last Saturday.

Two teenagers have been jointly charged with his murder.

A large contingent of the Afghan community and police involved in the case joined Mr Ikhtiari's five children and his wife at the funeral.

The family, originally from Afghanistan, came to New Zealand seven years ago.
