Detective Simon Keith said three people in their 60s were tied up for three hours yesterday morning.

He said they had been through a very traumatic experience, although had no physical injuries.

Police were asking for any sightings of a silver Toyota Vitz, which was taken from the property. They had earlier said the car was blue.

The car was found last night, in Casebrook, and was being forensically examined.

They were still looking for the intruder, who was described as a Caucasian man, 30 to 40 years old, about 1.8m tall and of solid build.

Mr Keith said they believed money was the target of the crime, as nothing was taken other than the car.

"I want to reassure the community that we are doing everything possible to catch this offender, as we believe people have the right to feel safe in their own homes."

The police yesterday said two people - a husband and wife - were in the house at the time the man entered, but updated the number of victims today.
