Parole declined for home invasion murderer

3:10 pm on 20 December 2016

Parole has been declined for a man who murdered an elderly couple during a home invasion 22 years ago.

Gresham Marsh is serving a life sentence for the murder of Josie and John Harrisson in their Waikato home in 1994.

The Parole Board said probation had been declined as Marsh had not had access to one-to-one psychological treatment.

It said the accommodation offered to Marsh had also been deemed unsuitable by Probation Services.

Media reports from the time said Marsh and his co-offender Leith Ray stole a rifle before breaking into the Harrison's Te Akau home and shooting them dead.

The Parole Board granted Ray parole in April 2015 but he was recalled earlier this year.
