Police name pilot in fatal Taranaki plane crash

Police have released the name of the pilot who died in a top-dressing accident in Taranaki on Sunday.

Kevin Ross Brown, 48, of Stratford died when his single engine top dressing plan crashed in farmland at Tarata, inland from Inglewood about midday.

Mr Brown was dead when emergency services arrived at the scene.

Waitara police senior sergeant Matt Prendergast says police are investigating the death and will refer the accident to the coroner.

An aircraft crash investigator will arrive at the scene on Monday to begin an investigation into the cause of the crash.
