A woman's body has washed ashore on a private beach at Tangoio in Hawke's Bay.

Police were at the scene, about 20km north of Napier, where the body was found this afternoon.
They said the woman had not yet been identified and the circumstances around her death were unclear.
Tangoio, a small coastal settlement off State Highway 2, is described by the local tourism website as a popular spot for fishing, diving, walking and swimming.
