Crusaders offer cheap tickets to unemployed

8:31 pm on 10 May 2010

The Crusaders rugby team is offering $5 tickets for this week's game to anyone without a job.

The cheap tickets are available to the immediate families of anyone registered as unemployed on the Work and Income New Zealand database.

Crusaders chief executive Hamish Riach says the team wanted to help out people having a hard time who could not afford to go the South Island team's final round-robin game against the ACT Brumbies.

Mr Riach says the Crusaders also went through a hard time with dwindling supporters, but attendance numbers have jumped by about 40% since last year. He credits reduced prices, a strong marketing campaign and the completed AMI stadium.
