A fire in a busy Auckland shopping centre has forced the evacuation of hundreds of people.
The Fire Service contained the blaze in the plant room of Lynn Mall in New Lynn by about 11am, but had to shut down the power supply to the shopping centre.
A spokesperson for the Lynn Mall said the evacuation of staff and customers was a precaution.
Police also warned of traffic congestion in the area.
The shopping complex reopened on Thursday afternoon.
