A man has been hospitalised with head injuries after a serious assault in Christchurch.
Canterbury police said the 53-year-old was set upon by another man, who was with a group of people, on Thursday evening.
The attack happened under the Moorhouse Avenue-Colombo Street overbridge.
The victim was pushed to the ground and then kicked in the head, and remains in Christchurch Hospital.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
