A Tauranga man has been seriously hurt at a motocross event near Matata, in the Bay of Plenty.

The 42-year-old suffered serious injuries to the right side of his body when he fell from his trail bike in a forest.
He was flown by the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition.
