Man injured after car hits cow

An Auckland man has been flown to Waikato Hospital after being seriously injured when the car he was in hit a cow.

A Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to Te Aroha this afternoon after the 56-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, suffered chest and abdominal injuries.

The Phillips Search and Rescue Trust said the condition of the driver was not known.

Cyclist seriously injured after crash

In Dunedin, a cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a campervan this afternoon.

The crash happened at just before 1pm on Portobello Road, near The Cove.

The cyclist was taken to Dunedin Hospital with what is believed to be a serious head injury.

The police are investigating and would like to hear from any witnesses to the crash.
