Carisbrook site to be used for industrial warehouse

The former site of Dunedin's famous 'House of Pain', the Carisbrook sports stadium, looks set to become an industrial warehouse.

The stadium was demolished in 2013 after serving as the site for international matches for more than 100 years.

It has stood vacant ever since, but the Dunedin City Council said it expected a resource consent to be granted for the industrial project.

Council spokesman Alan Worthington said construction company Calder Stewart had applied to build a large, single-storey warehouse and carparking.

Mr Worthington said the consent was still being processed, but it should get the go ahead next week.
