Theft of breast pumps could affect newborns

6:07 pm on 24 December 2008

Thieves have stolen equipment needed by some of the most vulnerable patients at Waikato Hospital.

They have taken two mobile breast pumps valued at $2000 each from the newborn intensive care unit,

Charge nurse Cathy McBride says the pumps disappeared earlier this week, leaving everyone frustrated and upset, including the mothers of premature and sick babies.

The police are investigating, but the hospital is asking for the pumps to be returned - no questions asked.
