A leader of the Anglican church in Wellington is appealing to those who go to church only at Christmas to continue attending through the year.
Almost 500 people gathered at one of the four services being held at Wellington's largest cathedral, Saint Paul's, where the Reverend Frank Nelson is Dean.
Reverend Nelson said it was heartening that so many families attended this year's services. He said 1000 people attended midnight mass at the cathedral.
