A man whose hand was almost cut off in a machete attack has been flown to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition.
Police were called to an address in Taieri Mouth Road, south of Dunedin, shortly after 12pm.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged with common assault.
Police could not confirm if more serious charges would follow.
