Several schools and a kindergarten in the Auckland suburb of Remuera have lifted a lockdown after the Armed Offenders Squad and the police helicopter were called to the area.

St Kentigern Junior School and Remuera Intermediate, as well as Remuera Kindergarten, all went into lockdown as a "precautionary measure" earlier this afternoon, but that was lifted shortly after 2pm.
Police received an emergency phone call about 12.30pm, from a man saying there was an injured woman in Woodley Avenue.
A large number of police officers were called into the area, including the Armed Offenders Squad and the Eagle helicopter.
Police said they were clearing the street, but no injured persons have been found.
Police said attempts to speak to the original caller were ongoing, and that no shots were fired and no one has been arrested.
Police said there were a number of cordons in the area and motorists were asked to stay away.

A resident of a street cordoned off by the Armed Offenders Squad said the incident was highly unusual for the area.
Food writer Helen Jackson said there had been no communication from police.
"There were quite a few police officers at the front of our property, and more running down the street, all carrying rifles. The helicopter is still circling, and from what I hear at the top of the street, where someone is waiting to come in, I think they're about to go from door to door, to check that everyone's OK."
Ms Jackson said it was a quiet street and neighbours had been calling one another to make sure everyone was uninjured.
