Firefighters have contained a large scrub fire near Wanaka that forced people in two homes to evacuate.
The Fire Service said it was now dampening down the blaze, which covered about 25 hectares near Dublin Bay and close to Lake Hawea.
Rural crews are being sent to take over through the night.
Earlier, the Fire Service said the close proximity to the lake was helping efforts to put it out, although they were not being helped by blustery wind conditions.
