The police say a body pulled out of the Manawatu River on Friday was that of a man who had been missing for a few days.
Thirty-six-year-old Christopher Adam Neal was reported missing on Wednesday.
Police divers had been searching the river for Mr Neal, who was last seen in Pahiatua.
The police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, which will be referred to the coroner.
