A 23-year-old man is dead following a single-car crash in northern Hawke's Bay.
Emergency services were called overnight to the scene of the crash, on Mangapapa Bridge on State Highway 38 near Frasertown.
Police said the Wairoa man, who was found dead, was the only person in the car.
They said the car might have hit an abutment before coming to a stop on the other side of the bridge.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
