Armed offenders call-out in Christchurch

9:59 pm on 28 December 2008

There was an armed offenders call-out in the Christchurch suburb of St Albans on Sunday.

Police were called to the house at about 6.15pm after the occupant complained of being threatened by several people.

Police say the group, which was in possession of a firearm, then left the house by car.

Police located the car at a house in Witham Street in Hornby and a police cordon was set up.

Inspector Rick Jury of the Christchurch police says the Armed Offenders Squad was used to secure the occupants and building.

He says four people are assisting police with their enquiries.
