A 66-year-old man with suspected blood poisoning has been rescued from a launch 24 kilometres north of Cape Reigna.

The Rescue Coordination Centre said it received a call just after 3pm this afternoon from the charter fishing vessel, the Pacific Invader, about the sick man.
A rescue helicopter was sent to pick up the man and he was now at Whangarei Hospital.
