4:44 pm on 22 March 2017

A man has been arrested after a burglary that prompted several Christchurch schools to go into lockdown, police say.

Four schools in the Bishopdale area put restrictions in place shortly before 3pm, on the advice of police, after a burglary on Chedworth Avenue just after 2pm.

Police found one of the people sought, with what they said was a stolen firearm, by 3pm.

They said they were still looking for three other people.

Cordons at the schools, which were up for about 30 minutes, had been lifted.
