Police have named a Te Awamutu farmer who is missing after his boat was found capsized off the Tauranga coast.

The search for 39-year-old Karl Earwaker resumed at first light today.
His overturned boat was spotted by a plane two nautical miles south of Mayor Island at about 3pm on Tuesday.
Police said today they believed Mr Earwaker has suffered a tragic accident and the boat had somehow capsized.
A surface search of the area where the boat was found was continuing today, with the Police Dive Squad and Navy staff due to begin a seafloor search in the same area this afternoon.
