Police have released the name of the man who fell overboard in the Bottle Top Bay area near Auckland on Saturday.
The 33-year-old man has been named as Loielu Faiao.
A search for Mr Faiao is expected to resume on Monday.
Mr Faiao had been in a boat in the Bottle Top Bay area and his companion reported him missing after he woke to find him not on board.
A police search also involving the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was stood down on Saturday after footprints and a chilli-bin were found on shore.
However, the search for Mr Faiao resumed on Sunday, with police appealing for any sightings of him.
He was last seen wearing a blue raincoat and a black sleeveless top.
