Bags of money have fallen out of an armoured security van near Wanaka.
The van was driving along the Crown Range Road between Queenstown and Wanaka about 3.30pm.
A police spokesperson said the back door was open, and money fell out onto the road.
They said the number of bags missing and the amount of cash was not known, but someone had handed one bag into a police station.
