Low cloud and heavy rain have prevented searchers from going into Mount Aspiring National Park again to look for the body of a tramper.
Searchers on Monday found a pack beside the Dart River, which they say indicates Irina Yun, 36, was swept away in its current.
The weather forecast is for rain on Tuesday.
Ms Yun was last seen last Wednesday morning, after leaving the Mount Aspiring Hut for the Dart Hut over the Cascade Saddle.
Friends describe her as an outdoor enthusiast, but an inexperienced alpine tramper.
Sergeant Aaron Nicholson says it may be the weekend before the weather improves.
