Diversions are in place after a fatal crash closed State Highway One north of Auckland.
The Fire Service said one person died while another had critical injuries after a two-car collision in Dome Valley shortly before 7pm.
Police said diversions were on Port Albert Road, Kaipara Flats Road and Wayby Valley Road.
They asked motorists to choose alternative routes or postpone travel as delays were likely.
