Clean-up continues as Cyclone Cook heads south

1:27 pm on 14 April 2017

Cyclone Cook has passed over the North Island, bringing down trees and power lines, leaving slips and road closures in its wake.

The storm weakened as it headed south, but still brought 35mm to Christchurch's Heathcote River, which has burst its banks.

The Christchurch City Council says contractors are working to clear grates and check pumps, and are monitoring drains.
