Customs says $6 million worth of methamphetamine found in the luggage of a tour group arriving at Auckland international airport, is the biggest seizure of its kind this year.

Seven people from Taiwan have been arrested and charged with importing a Class A controlled drug.

Customs chief executive controller Martyn Dunne says 8kg of methamphetamine was found in the group's luggage.

He told Morning Report they hope to find out the source of the drugs and who may have been involved in its importation in New Zealand.
