Tauranga liquor store ram raided

A Tauranga liquor store has been ram raided by robbers who took off with alcohol and cigarettes.

Police were called about midnight when an alarm went off at the Thirsty Liquor on Chapel Street.

Bollards in front of the shop were damaged and the doors forced open.

The police were doing a forensic examination and reviewing security camera footage.

They said a silver Mazda Familia or similar vehicle was seen leaving the area.
