The government has agreed to sell a temporary social housing village in Christchurch to the local council.
The village was established on the Council-owned Linwood Park in 2011 and has 42 units for social housing tenants who cannot live at home because of earthquake-related repairs.
The council said it would continue using the village to house people affected by the earthquakes.
Since opening, the village has housed people from nearly 600 households, with most staying about three months.
