A truck driver who failed to stop for the police evaded officers in a highway pursuit in Wellington last night for up to an hour.

Police said they tried to stop a truck seen being driven dangerously on the city's urban motorway at about 10pm.
The driver continued down the motorway away from officers up State Highway 2 towards Lower Hutt.
Despite spikes put on the road in Lower Hutt, he continued to Upper Hutt where he was eventually stopped and arrested.
