A school was put in lockdown after the ANZ Bank in Glenfield on the North Shore was held up.

A man ran off with cash and reportedly asked a nearby resident to call a taxi for him but continued running when officers arrived.

A 44-year-old man appeared in the Auckland District Court today charged with aggravated robbery, and was remanded in custody until next month.

Police said he also faced three additional charges of burglary and a charge of theft from different incidents.
