Maori-owned tourism company Whale Watch Kaikoura has won another international award.

The company has won the World Travel and Tourism Council award for community activities at a tourism summit in China.

Last year Whale Watch won the Responsible Tourism award in London.

Chief operating officer Kauahi Ngapora told Waatea News the company was pleased to be honoured for its community relationship.

Mr Ngapora says the company was founded by four local families, it's run locally and the majority shareholding is held locally, so any success reflects back on the community.
