Two people have died in a farm machinery accident in Canterbury.
Emergency services were called to the property in the Mayfield area, north west of Ashburton, shortly after 10 o'clock on Friday morning.
A spokesperson for the Department of Labour says a man and a woman were killed after a grain auger came into contact with powerlines.
The Department of Labour is investigating, and the deaths have been referred to the coroner.
Police say the names of the two victims will not be released yet, as their next of kin still have to be informed.
