A Lower Hutt man has been charged with receiving stolen tickets to an All Blacks Lions test match.

Police said they were taken from a letterbox at a Wellington house early last month.

They said a relative of the person who ended up with the tickets tried to sell them on Trade Me and police got a tip-off.

"This prosecution sends a clear message to our community that we will continue to actively focus on preventing crime throughout the DHL New Zealand Lions Series by targeting offenders and keeping our visitors safe."

A 31-year-old man will appear in the Wellington District Court on 12 June.
