Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a young boy while he was walking home from school on Auckland's North Shore yesterday.
Vauxhall School principal Gary Lawrence sent an email out to parents early yesterday evening explaining what had happened.
He said the boy was approached by a man in an "older looking" red car on Merani Street in Narrow Neck, about a 10 minute walk from school.
The man told the boy to get in the car because his father had told him to pick him up and take him home.
Mr Lawrence said the boy said no and walked quickly away.
The police are investigating and the local community constable was at school this morning talking with parents.
