A collision between a bus and a 4WD in Central Otago has killed one person and left several people injured.

Emergency services were at the scene on State Highway 8 near Roxburgh.
The crash happened on a passing lane near Shingle Creek north of the town just before 2pm.
Police said three people with serious injuries were being flown to Dunedin Hospital, and several people with moderate to minor injuries were being treated at the scene.
They said the passenger bus was carrying 10 people, but they were not sure if it was a commercial bus.
State Highway 8 was closed. With no diversions, motorists could expect extensive delays and were asked to use alternate routes to Dunedin through Middlemarch or Gore.
