Man accused of Kim Richmond's murder granted bail

A man accused of killing his partner and dumping her body in a lake has been granted bail with electronic monitoring.

Cory Jefferies, 45, has been charged with the murder of 42-year old Kim Richmond and putting her body in a car and dumping it into Lake Arapuni in Waikato a year ago.

Ms Richmond was reported missing from her Arohena home in early August but her body was not discovered until last month.

Mr Jefferies, who has pleaded not guilty, appeared in the High Court in Hamilton today seeking bail.

Justice Muir granted it with a number of conditions, including that he would be monitored with a tracking bracelet.

Mr Jefferies will be back in court in October and a trial is not likely until next year.

The couple of had been together for 26 years and have three children together.
