Nominations open for Whanau Ora leader groups

7:21 pm on 9 June 2010

Nominations have opened for people willing to serve on regional leadership groups for the new Whanau Ora service delivery programme.

The chair of the Whanau Ora Governance Group, Rob Cooper, has told Waatea News that Te Puni Kokiri will be looking for people who are well-known in their communities and can give clear advice about the sort of issues those communities are facing.

The groups will also include representatives from the ministries of Health, Social Development and Maori Affairs.

Mr Cooper says their first task will be to assist in the selection of the Whanau Ora providers in their regions. As the Government gains more confidence in Whanau Ora, he says, the regional leadership groups may be called on to suggest new areas it can move into.
