Thousands of people were warned to boil their water after a disused reservoir was mistakenly let into the city's pipes on Monday night.

Nine million litres of water have been flushed through the network in the past three days.

The council said the public needed to flush their pipes out today.

Medical officer of health Dr Keith Reid said the public heath risk was low, but people should flush their pipes.
