One person is dead after a car crashed into a fence in Ashburton, in the early hours of this morning.
Police said the car was found off the road on Methven Highway at about 1.30am.
The person died at the scene and a second person was taken to Ashburton Hospital in a serious condition.
Diversions are in place while the serious crash unit investigates.
