Police in Auckland are looking for at least one person who fled the scene of a fatal crash in the suburb of Onehunga.

Police say a car crashed into a house on Arthur Street at about 10.10pm on Friday and one or more occupants of the crashed Nissan Pulsar ran from the scene.

They were picked up a short time later by a second vehicle, which had been stolen from Mount Roskill a short time before.

Emergency services found three people in the crashed car - one of them was dead.

The two women who survived, aged 16 and 17, were transported to Auckland Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Inspector Kerry Watson, says the police are concerned about the welfare of the people who ran from the vehicle, as they may have noticeable injuries and may require medical attention.
